It’s a good week for Jane Austen fans, as two new projects have been announced this week. After the news that BBC is creating a ten-part drama series based on Janice Hadlow’s acclaimed novel The Other Bennet Girl, Variety now claims that Dolly Alderton is writing a Pride and Prejudice Series for Netflix.

This new Pride and Prejudice series would be the second Jane Austen adaptation created by Netflix after Persuasion featuring Dakota Johnson, Cosmo Jarvis, and Richard E. Grant. Dolly Alderton, best known for her book Everything I Know About Love, will be writing the script, but no more information about the adaptation has been released.

So far, news about this adaptation is limited. Will it be a modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice or more like the Netflix adaptation of Persuasion? We don’t know yet, nor is there any news about a cast.

But one thing is certain: Dolly Alderton and Netflix have big shoes to fill as the 2005 movie, featuring Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Bennet and Matthew Macfadyen as Mr. Darcy, and the 1995 BBC Mini-Series with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth are hugely popular with all period drama fans.

Let the speculation about the cast begin! Who do you want to be cast as the Bennet sister and Mr. Darcy?
